Speaking of Mancini... The Pink Panther has an absolutely classic theme too.

BEST them varies on any list. These days you may find yourself surprised. Yes, 5-0 is certainly memorable to us old-timers, but for the younger viewing crowd that have grown up without it? Perhaps not so much. 5 year rule of memory kind of applies here IMO.
Personally, I believe certain themes connect perfectly in tone and memory for that individual show.
Munsters and Addams Family suit their horror/comedy genre. F-Troop suits it's western/comedy tone. (both versions, with lyrics and just instrumental) The Avengers theme (Steed and Peel you fools) is spot on for it's theme and tone as well. Doctor Who has evolved over the years with changes but it is still instantly recognizable and memorable. Jonny Quest's iconic theme sticks in your head. Space: 1999 and UFO and Battlestar Galactica suit their sci-fi affiliation so well.

Well, taxidriver1980 was speaking of "best" rather than "memorable," and on both of those counts I would like to throw Neal Hefti's Batman theme song into the ring.

Perhaps not so much. 5 year rule of memory kind of applies here IMO. The 5-year rule doesn't matter in this case. The updated version of 5-0, which is in its eleventh season, still uses the original theme. You can hear it every Friday on CBS at 8 PM. I don't watch it myself but clearly lots of people do.

The 5-year-rule doesn't count for me as I saw the original show about 15-20 years ago on TV/DVD. I love it anyway!

Yeah, the Hawaii 5-0 theme is most excellent, but for me it shares first place with this one: (Quincy Jones is a friggin' musical genius...) Honorable mention goes to this one - in which case the visual aspect is just as good as the music: Edited to add: too bad the show wasn't anywhere near as good as that title sequence...

Obviously not enough people have heard the intro and outro themes of classic Canadian shows like The Beachcombers and King Of Kensington! But surely you all know the Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet theme for Kids In the Hall?

I can't remember the last time I watched Kids in the Hall. It's right up there with SCTV and Almost Live in my book.
Cei-U! I summon the sketch show classics!

Yes, back when tv was something you watched at set times, I remember looking forward to the night Kids in the Hall was showing - was it Thursdays? - and then talking about it next time I saw any friends who were also into the show (pretty much everyone I knew at the time).
The Shadowy Men cds are all worth listening too as well, if you see them around anywhere.
The Sanford and Son theme came back to me as soon as the first few notes played in the video above, but I don't remember the Chico and the Man theme song at all, even after hearing it now, though I'm sure I used to watch the show back in the day. Listening to it here, I much prefer the more upbeat closing credits song to the somewhat sappy one played at the beginning.

I get the theme from Good Times playing in my head sometimes, I guess that makes it pretty good. Haven't seen it in years. Welcome Back Kotter is another one but then it was by John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful. The end theme of WKRP is another all-time fave; it was some kind of guide vocal nonsense skatting that someone said sounded cool just as it was and they used it instead of someone writing actual words.
Had some KFC chicken (PFK in Quebec) recently, and although I used to love it now I think they must've dropped some of those eleven herbs and spices, it hasn't tasted the same in a long time... there, I said it!

Had some KFC chicken (PFK in Quebec) recently The only time I entered Canada was during a trip to northern Maine. One day we drove over the bridge to Edmundston, New Brunswick, which is in a French-speaking portion of the province. One of the things I took pictures of was the big red & white sign that said "Poulet Frit a la Kentucky".

I'm surprised that with all this talk of all-time best TV theme songs, no one has mentioned the theme from "Cheers" yet. That song encapsulated what the entire show was about perfectly.
Personal favorites of mine include the themes for "The Greatest American Hero", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", her spin-off "Angel", "Firefly", and "The X-Files".

And the Rockford Files. Great theme and the answering machine gag to start it was unique.
