Bless you The Captain for this! I too detest the idea of picking out the "hateful" when there is so much more to rejoice in, whether it is comics, movies, books and life. Be positive about those things we appreciate and spread the joy and wonder!A small sampling (there will be more coming as I think of them): I absolutely love: - That something I cherished as a child still elicits fun and joy for me as an adult.
- That I can read a Barks/Rosa Disney and then dig into a Usagi Yojimbo, then lose myself in cowboys and jump into War comics and delve right into Super hero goodness before exploring science fiction and fantasy and follow those up with newspaper comic strips from before I was born and then cross the ocean into the world of British comics and French comics and Italian comics and Swedish comics and Spanish comics and continue on and on and on!
- The interaction of the entire CCF family here. A place where my love and adoration of comic books and other "geekiness" is shared, discussed and explored with true caring and admiration and genuine love.
- That there are so many books and magazines now which highlight and reveal the worlds of comic books. Growing up all there was is whatever monthly issues you found with very little insights or behind the scenes. You might or might not know the names and the faces but today you can easily find out information or put a face with the name.
- That Kirby and Ditko receive more acknowledgement and appreciation today than they did in their twilight years for all of their stellar achievements in crafting and creating the "standards" of what the comic book can do and be.
- That there is over 60+ years of classic ARCHIE comic books that reflects the world and times they were printed in!
- That with simply opening the pages of a comic book I can transcend time and space to being instantly transported anywhere and everywhere the minds of the creators wish to take me to.
- Comic books opening my interests and delight into all aspects of art and writing which I might not have known of or experienced.
Tell you more later!

I'll go further on my love of the original Avengers-
I love that the Lee/ Kirby run went further into their organization with a charter and rotating leaders and even rules for court martial for violations.
They were not obligated to disclose their id's to the rest of the team.
Captain America was the defacto trainer when it came to hand to hand combat.
When Lee decided to change the membership roster with #16, it was no sure thing that the fans would buy into it, but with great writing and plots it became an even bigger book.

I love when the Hulk is green, his pants are purple and he calls people his own names like 'bird nose' or 'bug man'. Some things you don't mess with. It wasn't the first time, or the first company to do it, but I love seeing the "Still Only 35c" blurb on old Marvels... I even like those May issues with the space for that filled with 40c!

I wonder if we will ever see a Marvel comic cover that says "still only $3.99"??

I wonder if we will ever see a Marvel comic cover that says "still only $3.99"?? That is a never! Why would a company spotlight how comic books are no longer an affordable hobby for collecting? Oh for those long lost days of walking out with 3-5 comics in your hands for a pocket full of change or a crumpled dollar bill. And you can say that the current pricing is consistent with the monetary rates for the times, but it won't make it any easier to believe. It really hit home for me last week while i was off work on PTO and I visited a few LCS and bookstores where a new standard paperback book was priced at $8.99 and $9.99 and new standard monthly comics from DC and IDW was priced at $5.99. While those prices hurt, I still love paperback books and comic books and it just means I am being much more selective of what I will choose to purchase. I actually flipped through several books that I placed back on the shelves that if priced a tad more pocket friendly I might have bought.

I think that as the prices have risen, the size of the price on the cover of the books has gotten smaller...

I absolutely love The Untold Legend of the Batman. Most underrated story ever. And it was published in a year where all the cool people were born!

My Personal Golden Age for comics is 1965-1985. My personal Silver Age is 1985-1990 with the rise of First Comics and others. My personal Bronze Age started with The Authority in 1999.

Spider-Man! I mean if you don't love Spider-Man even a little bit, I question whether you are a member of the human race!
I also love L.B. Cole, covers with explosions on them, smelling comics, and reading old letters columns in comics!
