I agree. Azrael epitomized Marv Wolfman's prediliction for over-the-top, overwrought emotional schmaltz. It's arguably his biggest failing as a writer. Cei-U! I summon the O.G. weeping angel! Oh, and now Kole is in madly love with Jericho after knowing him for 5 minutes. Enough!

Those...those aren't from real comics, are they? No... just Marvel Comics.

Definitely Deadpool and Harley Quinn, equally. They were both excelling at overexposure, then - their movies launched.

I liked Harley in B:TAS. Since then ... bleech. And don't get me started on those trashy redesigns.
I've read two Deadpool comics in my life, but I've learned to loathe him through osmosis. Same with Lobo. Satirical characters with ultraviolent tendancies and overblown regenerative powers inevitably piss me off.

The Deadpool mini with Mark Waid and Ian Churchill was good stuff. If you look at Deadpool as the character in the movies, Spiderman Unlimited, and one other animated series I can't remember the name of, yeah he's obnoxious. Same with Harley. Post Batman: TAS almost everything with her is terrible. He redesigns in things like Suicide Squad and Rockstar's Batman video game series, makes her look just as whorish as all the 90's bad girls if not worse. But that is not the character Bruce Timm and Paul Dini created. Both of these characters are an example of being torn from their creator's origins and turned into cheap, tawdry, brain-dead entertainment. And as someone who liked both characters from their start, it makes me wish I was blind and deaf.

Their face on any cover or appearing in film/animation, etc., is Kryptonite to me.

I tried to watch the recent Birds Of Prey movie, it was on a specialty channel during a free viewing promotion, but it was all 'Harley' and her supposedly cute attitude while engaged in extreme violence that made me just give up on it. I just hate that formula, I hated it on Get Shorty or Be Cool or whatever those things were. I could end up sounding like Harlan Ellison when he went to a late '70s slasher movie. Deadpool, Lobo, Carnage... Venom and Punisher even, they seriously depress me and make me not like people who seem to love them. I will take the word that there were some 'good' versions of them, not all one note (joking while committing extreme violence), but I see them on a comic I will never buy it, Punisher and Venom only for the sake of a run. If Deadpool, Harley Quinn or Lobo even have powers I still don't have straight whatever they may be. Oh, the power to magically kill a lot of people while cracking sick jokes about it? I fail to appreciate the appeal of Cable, Forge, and Bishop when they crop up in X-comics (what the heck were their powers again?). Don't hate them just not interested, and I'm not much for Gambit or Rogue (especially the over-use of dialect and people calling each or 'cher' 'darling' 'darlin' over and over 'liebschen' 'bub' and 'tovarich' were overdone enough. At least Cable, Forge and Bishop didn't bring excessive future slang on top of all that with them. Nate X-Man Grey I'm also finding pretty dull and uninteresting as well as those future mutants from the end of X-Factor and into the alternate universe X title Havok got dropped into. Someone must've really loved all these characters though, most were featured sooooo heavily becoming the main focus while I wanted them to quit taking up so much room and attention (what the heck were their powers supposed to be again?)

Im okay with disliking turning a quirky child friendly character into an absolute sex symbol for no other reason than to appeal to the 99% male heterosexual fan base as distasteful. And I’m a HUGE fan of cheesecake. But Harley looking like she runs a BDS&M dungeon and adding absolutely nothing else to the Batman games is the height of pandering.

I stopped following the X-books back in '85. I'm still not sure what the difference is between Cable, Bishop, and X-Man, because my brain hurts whenever anyone tries to explain it to me.
Cei-U! A pox on them all!

Oy. You want meshuguna annoying? What's up with dat Irish palooza and all the loud screaming and hollering and wailing like a Banshee all the time? Oy, it makes my ears bleed and my head hurt! Would it hurt to do a nice quiet whisper once in awhile? Why you gotta yell at the top of your lungs all the time? Why not save it for yelling at the dang kids to get off your lawn? Holler at the pigeon's pooping on your nice new washed car! Scream and wail at the missus why don't ya? Give it a rest already would ya?!?
