Indeed, especially in the final days of COTU, when it tried to ride the horror wave of the early 70s and Deadman even dropped in.

Here's a bit of footage from a documentary on comics filmed in the 70s, with a look at a story and art sessions in the Marvel and DC offices of the time, Neal Adams and Julie Schwartz talking/planning the Superman-Ali book, Stan and Archie Goodwin planning the Human Fly book, Steranko discussing Chandler, footage forma comic con and costume contest from the 70s etc.
it cuts off pretty abruptly, so I don't think this was the full feature or if the feature ever got made/released beyond this excerpt. Robert Beerbohm provided the youtube link in his FB feed. It's still pretty interesting viewing for all that.

A news report on comic collecting from 1970...
$200 for a Batman #1? OUTRAGEOUS!
Man just look at all the golden age books for sale in there, and tons of Silver Age just sitting in bins unbagged for sale as people flip through them...

That news report is fascinating. What interesting glimpse into another time, which nonetheless seems all too familiar.

A follow up to the follow up. Looks like the winner of the piece was Hollywood producer Frank Darabont (best known recently the showrunner of the first few seasons of the Walking Dead; as well Shawshank Redemption and other Stephen King flicks). Here's the cool thing though, he knows none of the money went to Bernie's family,so he arranged for a high res scan of the original to be made and for prints of it to be made and sold for $150 each with the proceeds going to Liz Wrightson. Bleeding Cool has an article on it which has links to how you can buy one if you are interested. They are limited in quantity though. -M

"So," this guy says, "let me show you a couple of comics I just bought..." photo of early well-known collector Robert Durell circa 1964/1965... -M

Here's a bit of footage from a documentary on comics filmed in the 70s, (...) Finally found the time to watch this longer video yesterday. I think the part I liked best was seeing the young (17 year-old!) Trevor von Eeden discussing the art for the first issue of Black Lightning. The whole thing is definitely worth watching, though.

Here's a bit of footage from a documentary on comics filmed in the 70s Wow, thanks for posting this! Amazing, Fantastic, Uncanny... More Fun! But... augh... that narrator, I know that voice... so familiar... this is going to drive me up the wall. Any way to find out for sure? I think that is the entire feature, it seems to have reached a natural end with the kid walking down the street and how it's all for him, non? I'm sure that's Denny O'Neil in the scene with Neal Adams and Julie Shwartz discussing Superman vs. Muhammad Ali.

Unrelated to anything above. Just stumbled across this cover from 1956. Is that phantom spaceman wearing a prototype of Adam Strange's uniform or what?

Is that phantom spaceman wearing a prototype of Adam Strange's uniform or what? Why, that's the old Adam Strange, who sent an astral projection of himself into his past to bump off his accountant - to stop him from draining all of the funds from the young Adam's checking and savings accounts every time he zeta-beamed to Rann...
