I had quite the harrowing day. Have to be in NY for work this week, so I drove across the state of PA in the midst of Winter Storm Ezekiel, which was dropping snow and ice and sleet upon me the entire way. Couldn't use the cruise control at all, which made my recently-sprained right ankle and foot ache from overuse. Thankfully, I arrived at my destination safely, if not a little shaken, and will be here for three days before returning home on Thursday.
Weather appears to be better by then, which is good, because I need to get back by late afternoon for my daughters' chorus concert that evening.

Glad you made it in one piece, Cap. I can't remember the last time I drove anywhere in a full blown storm.

Got tickets to the MST3K live show in Boise for February 9th. This is allegedly Joel Hodgson's last tour. And, as a bonus, the venue was having a Cyber-Monday sale so I got $10 off each ticket. Super excited to see the gang live and riffing "Circus of Horrors." Only down side is that it's after my son Nathan will have gone back to Africa after being home for Christmas.

At home, each Sunday, we’re in the habit of preparing a dish that will provide enough leftovers to last two or three more meals during the week. It saves us a lot of time.
Yesterday I left a huge vegetable stew to cool outside, in a sealed Tupperware container (why not take advantage of the minus five weather, eh?) but the neighbour’s dog decided to have a taste while we were busy elsewhere. He broke the lid open and had a few bites, deciding that this meatless meal was not to his liking after all. He just left the mess on our balcony.
I love that dog, I really do... but having him waste the equivalent of four or five full plates and not even eating it made me want to kick its canine rear end!!!
It’ll tale a lot of cutesy dog smiles to get it back into my good graces! (And from now on, I’ll cool my cooking in the garage).

Sabbatical from CCF I'm going to be gone for awhile taking two vacations this month and after the 1st of January ... I'll be working on getting all of my 190 plus members of my club squared away and organizing events and making sure that everything is running smoothly. My club will be going on two -- one week trips from January 2020 to end of August and I pretty sure by Labor Day things should die down and could be able to come back on a part-time basis. I might be able to log on now and then -- but, in reality I'll be really busy next year and this will repeats itself for another 10 years. I'm not participating in the Classic Comics Christmas this year and may come back to the weekly Cover Contest on a limited basis starting January and may not be able to participate in most of them. I'll be gone this Saturday getting ready for my vacation to see friends that I've seen for awhile. And, another one with my own family for an ocean trip that we do every year. This is all I have for now ...

Christmas season is a very heavy and difficult time of year in my job as a Mailman, as you can imagine. The amount of parcels that are mailed increases every year and this year is no exception. I usually am part of the Overtime list , where they work me 6 days a week, up to 10 hours a day . Well Monday I worked 13 hours and sleep 4.5 hours, and yesterday I worked 13 hours again. I decided to get off the list and not drop dead during the holidays. The funny thing is that I might still end up working 10 hour days due to the lack of man power, but at least I'll be doing it all on my own route instead of , my route and helping other routes, too.

My grandfather was a mailman in the late 40's to his retirement in 1969 and worked 25 plus years and I hardly see him during the Christmas Season and by time Valentine's Day he usually heads to Mazatlan Mexico to do some fishing to get out of the house and his job. I remember him telling me that his days starts at 4am and ends at 6pm. 14 hours days -- Mondays to Saturdays. I know exactly what you are going through and hang in there ...
