Anyone Here use a Fire Tablet ? Just wondering how you like it ? We have one that is VERY old, so I can't speak to the newer ones, but the one we have feels cheap and clunky. The UI is dreadful, and navigating is a pain. The UI is irritatingly tied into Amazon's digital stores. We are not crazy about next to our also-very-old iPad mini. Take all that with a grain of salt because again, they are both old.

It's a nice little affordable way to have books you might not otherwise be able to find. I utilize mine strictly for books, comics, magazines and music. Also for storing in word form all my Disneyland trips and Phoenix Comic-Con pictures. Rather nice being able to pull up a Conan to read or jumping into a Tarzan or reading some TwoMorrow's magazines and then digging into some comics. It's not too large, I can carry it in my overnight bag, or toss it in my backpack, fairly light in weight and great for taking on travel trips and for waits at anyplace. I tend towards getting old pulps, ERB collections, REH collections, old westerns and mysteries/thrillers and bundled collections of fantasy/science fiction. I have stored copies of my CD-ROM collections of Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica of the 70's and my Star Trek CD-ROM that has ALL of the series starting with the Gold Key up through Marvel/DC/Malibu. Along with a good chunk of the Gold Keu/Charlton runs of Lee Falk's Phantom comics. I’m interested. Is it internet capable like a iPad ?

Icctrombone, The Fire 8 automatically detects available Wireless/Wi-Fi networks. It also remembers previously accessed wireless connections. I know that I connect to the Hospital's Wi-Fi when I am at work easily. Since I don't have Internet at home I will usually browse/shop Amazon for books before work, during lunch or after work to purchase and download. BE AWARE though that it is primarily set up specifically for Amazon in order to encourage more purchases by Kindle owners. IF you have Amazon Prime then you have access to all their shows/movies/videos/etc.

I’m looking for a tablet that can get comixology, MU and the DC comic site. If it downloads all that without a problem it’s a cheaper alternative to a new iPad. My older iPad doesn’t have the tech to get the DC universe app.

I did it with a much older generation Kindle that I still have. Sideloaded both Dropbox (which wasn't in the Amazon App store at the time) and an Epub reader.

Well, CCFers, I'm well and truly screwed. The owners of my apartment complex notified us back in September that they were going to start charging us for water, sewage and garbage as of our December rent, but they didn't tell us how much the increase was until yesterday. The fee is $90, raising my total rent to $940. So here we go again: I can't afford to stay, I can't afford to move, and I can't apply for public housing until next October. It looks like my sister and brother are going to help me out every month, but that's grossly unfair to them And if all this weren't worry enough, I'm also scheduled for an ultrasound on December 6 because my doctor is concerned I may have an aortic aneurysm. He thinks it's unlikely, but it's still scary as hell. I swear if things don't start breaking my way soon, they're going to find me curled up in a fetal ball in some corner gibbering like an idiot! Anyway, I'm not looking for any help, I just needed to vent to a sympathetic audience and I don't parade my troubles on Facebook Thanks for "listening."
Cei-U! I summon the straitjacket and rubber room!

Man, that sucks. Life sure can be a s**t sometimes, can't it? I hope things start to take a turn for the better soon, my friend.

Hang in there Kurt and may can work things out ... I had hard times in the 2005 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2013 because of my parents and taking a lot of responsibilities. I echo Confessor's comments and hope you can apply support next October.

Yoiks Kurt! Deepest prayers and thoughts are with you. What an unwieldy circumstance to be placed into. Hope all goes well and you manage to have it all work out to your benefit. Stay strong, have faith and patience during this lousy moment. What a way to end one year and begin another. It has to get better, believe in that and keep positive thoughts in your heart, mind and soul!
