I'd definitely have to have a taxi available at all times if I go across the pond. Even if it's not my intent to get intoxicated, there's just so many great beers in that part of the word, that just trying one of each would get to me. Yes, I know. Great wonders of the world, and you leave the US to spend time in taverns. :-)

Along the Wales border - on the England side, I think - is Hay-on-Wye, known as the Town of Books because it's dominated by used and antiquarian book stores. There's one store so big, different departments are in different buildings. At least, that was the case when I was there 20 years ago. the history and biography sections, for instance, were in the town castle, while the science fiction and fantasy section was across the street in another building. I got several out of print books there which I had never been able to find before.

And it is the end of shift here at work and I am getting out of town! Going to Lake Havasu for a 4 day weekend of fun and frolic and visit and play in the lake while drinking a wee dram or two of alcohol with some friends. Wishing everyone here at the CCF a great and glorious 4th of July celebratory weekend! See you all Monday fresh and ready and well relaxed

We are staying in Crickhowell, about 20 miles south of Hay-on-Wye, for the first three days of our trip and have plans to get up there either Thursday or Friday specifically for the booksellers. I don't buy a lot of books any more (and probably won't here, unless I see something truly amazing), but we want to go for the experience.

I'm uncannily good at recognizing actors' faces. It doesn't matter how obscure they are, how little of their work I've seen, or how much time has passed since I last saw them in anything — if I've seen them before, there's a very strong chance I'll accurately recognize them.
It's a sad state of affairs that I don't know if this ability applies to people I've encountered in real life.

I found out earlier today that my book is making its official debut at this year's San Diego ComicCon in two short weeks. Can't ask for a more appropriate launch pad than that! I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what fandom (and the reviewers) think of my efforts.
Cei-U! I summon the pre-curtain jitters!

Do you know if it will be solicited in Previews (or has it been) so I can have my lcs order it, or if not, where can I order a copy? -M
