In the context of this one in particular, I think the most unrealistic part is her carrying that big old sword in a high school.

Tough crowd! It's safe to say that the likes of "Archie Meets the Punisher" and "Archie vs Predator" were produced by people enjoying a bit of subversion. The whole industry was founded and fueled by men seeking a "cash grab" at every step of the chain of production. Hopefully they produced some works in which humanity shone through anyway, but none of it was ars gratiae artis.

Archie and Justice League? Get that unrealistic tripe out of my stories with flying magical alien orphan babies and detective billionaires who dress like rodents and fight criminals! It's all in good fun. Also, who has had more crossovers at this point? Archie or Scooby Doo?

Because, yes, I'm that guy: Bats aren't rodents. Analysis of their genetic code has proven they're most closely related to primates.
Cei-U! I summon the pedantry!

There are times when I think the shared universe concept is more trouble than it's worth and should be scrapped entirely. Just place each individual superhero family on their own separate Earth and never allow any crossovers. Crossovers are fun. Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water... Luckily, I only feel this way 40% of the time.

I miss that thing, we could have gotten more, but it ended in an especially meta 50# issue. I WANTED THE ETHNIC SUPER FRIENDS THERE LIKE THEY DID THE ACTUAL SUPER FRIENDS AND THE JSA!

Cross-overs should remain in the domain of fandom. They hold absolutely no appeal for me. Have you seen mainstream comics in the past 30-odd years? The distance between fandom and professionals is razor thin.

I don't know, they say the pen is mightier than the sword. In the days of my youth, some of those school teachers were pretty darn deadly with erasers and chalk from across the room.

I guess everyone's mileage varies, but crossovers can be fun.
I'm not interested in every concept. But something like Scooby-Doo Team-Up was a lot of fun. I like the story where Bats and Robin teamed with the Scooby Gang against Man-Bat. Batman and Robin mentioned how criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot. Shaggy replied, "So are we."
I think some of it is about having fun. Having Escape From New York crossing over with Big Trouble in Little China was probably more to do with Kurt Russell being both characters than any sincere desire to tell a good story, but the result was fun for me.
Life needs more fun.

I love my pre 1984 books, but mainstream and non-mainstream books have only gotten better as time goes on.

Life needs more fun. I agree, especially about the life needs more fun part. In fact, maybe that's the secret to these crossovers. Don't let them take themselves too seriously, let them be strictly for fun. I've been reading Scooby Doo Team-Up and enjoying it very much. It's just plan fun.

Absolutely! I dream (and it is a pipe dream) of Marvel getting the Scooby licence. Scooby-Doo Team-Up at Marvel? Yes, please! Cap being bewildered by Shaggy or the Mystery Machine arriving at Doom's castle will get me reading.
On the fun thing, though, that's it. There's a time for me to sit there and read something serious such as Sandman. And there's a time for me to think about the Punisher in Riverdale - and enjoy that. For me, life is about balance. I've also had this debate with wrestling fans on wrestling forums. Sure, there are times where it's nice to see a serious wrestling match which presents a sporting-style contest; but then there are times to watch clowns wrestle or enjoy a wacky, larger-than-life character.
It's like food. I want a salad and jacket potato for nourishment at times. But then I might just have something light from Burger King.
So I am on board with serious comics. And that includes serious crossovers. But if publishers want to have fun with a concept, and mix "oil and water" now and again, why not? It's a great escape from life at times.
