RIP to British comedian Jeremy Hardy, after a bout with cancer. He came to prominence in the later 80s, doing stand-up and small roles (such as a soldier in Blackadder Goes Fourth), as well as quiz and other panel shows, on tv and radio (such as QI, The News Quiz and I Haven't Got A Clue).
I first saw Hardy around 1989/90, on the Live! From London alternative comedy special, hosted by Howie Mandel (with Ben Elton acting more as the host, for the UK crowd)....
The special also included Spitting Image, French & Saunders and Elton's own comedy, as well as Rowan Atkinson doing some of his stage bits.
I always enjoyed Hardy, when I caught him (mostly on QI and similar things), as he had a quick wit, was good with a pun, and could mix intellectual humor with goofy stuff.

RIP Julie Adams. I have seen that movie more times than I can count and always a classic and one of my favorite actresses. Lived a long life at 92.

Fun factoid: in high school, Frank Robinson played basketball in addition to baseball. One of his basketball teammates was Bill Russell, the future NBA star.

Just saw this on the internet. Very sad as Finney was one actor you could watch/enjoy in anything he did. Will be missed.

Sadly, I did not had a chance to see them yet, and Wolfen and Big Fish is on my top of the list of movies to see and ... then the The Dresser too. There are many of them and I tried to make an effort to see them all.

Albert Finney! The first actor whose career I ever followed. Whereas comics had played a big part in my preadolescent life, as I entered adolescence my love of comics was replaced with an all-consuming passion for movies. I think one of the first movies I ever went to with my friends (and not my family) was Murder on the Orient Express. It introduced me to a slew of great performers, including a heavily-disguised Finney as Poirot.
But I had no idea what he really looked like until a year or so later when I came upon him a book about English actors. Not only did I go to a lot of movies, usually old ones and usually foreign (not American), I read a lot of books and magazines about movies. Through reading I became especially intrigued by 1960s British films and performers, such as Finney, Alan Bates, Dirk Bogarde, Julie Christie, Vanessa Redgrave and others, and I sought out their movies at the many revival cinemas and museums that were around. I saw a lot of his early movies multiple times including Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, Tom Jones (saw it at least a dozen times over the years), Two for the Road, Charlie Bubbles (which he directed); and on TV Night Must Fall, Scrooge and Gumshoe.
I remember I checked out an LP recording of Romeo and Juliet featuring Finney and Claire Bloom; listening to this helped me to understand and appreciate Shakespeare. When we read King Lear in class I knew he'd played Edmund onstage, so that was a big reason why I was eager to really get into the play (despite a less than excellent teacher). I was so excited to read about his Tamburlaine and Hamlet when the National Theatre opened.
He's remained a favorite of mine for years, even if I didn't really like or watch his later movies and didn't follow him as avidly as I had when I was a teen. RIP Albie.

RIP Ken Nordine - I spent my fair share of time listening to his COLORS album - Among an innumerable voice over jobs he was also Linda Blair's vocal coach in The Exorcist
