Is that pretty indicative of the animation style in previous seasons? I thought when I gave it a look a while back it seemed a bit more cartoonish in the way the human characters' faces were done, which is one reason I never watched any of them. Photorealism isn't in the cards for CGI on a television budget for a while yet, so they went with stylized images. Here's the trailer for season 3 for instance.

Seems a bit inconsistent, with some characters looking more realistic than others - in their proportions as well as their faces. I'll probably have to watch a few complete episodes to see how it feels to me overall. Is it best to start at season one?

But it's not essential to start at Season One. I am sure they will make this new series accessible to newbies.

Season one is a bit uneven plot wise, it didn't really come into its own until near the end of the second season. There are a few watch guides floating around out there that give you the best beats though.

The one Star Wars event I'm really waiting for is Confessor's eventual review of The Rise of Skywalker!

I’m almost astonished by how apathetic I’ve become to Star Wars in the past couple months. I have no strong feelings for the franchise anymore — not the OT, PT, ST, or the EU. I have zero interest in The Mandalorian or the upcoming season of TCW or any other future projects. I feel nothing but utter and complete indifference.

I haven't seen RoS myself, I was waiting for it to come to the cinema pub but it looks like it might come to DVD before then, I read it's coming out on March 31st. Is it just me, or is that a crazy early release date?

Is it just me, or is that a crazy early release date? It is indeed quick, but perhaps not so surprising. The movie barely made a billion dollars (which is an odd thing to say, I realize) and since my admittedly unscientific impression is that a lot of people were so burned by The Last Jedi that they didn't bother to see this one in theatres, Disney might want to make up for unrealized gains as fast as it can. This early after the cinematic release, the DVD will also benefit from the still-fresh publicity for it. The buzz hasn't died down yet.

I was having a discussion with my wife today about which DVDs we could get shot of to free up some shelf space and I offered up The Force Awakens as a candidate (I didn't buy TLJ). This might not seem like much of a big deal, but given what a big SW fan I am, the very idea that I would contemplate getting rid of a SW film is a damning indictment on the quality of the sequel trilogy, as I see it.
Conversely, you'd have to prise my copies of Rogue One or Blade Runner 2049 from my cold dead hands.

One of the good things about The Mandalorian was that I think it could be enjoyed simply as a nice bit of science fiction tv even if you didn't know a thing about Star Wars. I haven't bothered with any of the films since Rogue One, but I enjoyed this show. Nothing earth-shattering or amazing, mind you, but worth a look for any SF fan, I'd say.

I'll second the positive opinions regarding The Mandalorian. I fully sympathize with those that have become apathetic to Star Wars since, well, the lackluster prequels...but The Mandalorian has kept the ever dimming flame of Star Wars love flickering in my aging heart. I also liked Rogue One but dislike the new trilogy. Honestly, after the cynical pandering of The Force Awakens, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch The Last Jedi or Rise of Skywalker. It's still hard for me to grapple with the existence of The Force Awakens. It's not that I loath it its more that I was dumbfounded by its mediocrity. It's a blatant retelling of A New Hope and the utter lameness of Kylo Ren as a main villain still amuses and irritates me. You're basically in direct relations to and competition with Darth Vader (arguably the greatest screen villain) and that's the best you can come up with?
